At Quill, we build tools that prioritize your privacy and respect your ownership of your data. This Privacy Policy describes how Quill operates, demonstrating our commitment to keeping your information strictly local and secure.

1. On-Device, Offline Processing

Quill is designed to run entirely on your local machine. All transcription, dictation processing, and speech-to-text conversion are executed locally on your Mac's Apple Silicon Neural Engine.

• No Cloud Uploads: Your voice recordings, audio streams, and synthesized dictation text never leave your computer.
• Zero Accounts: Quill does not require you to create an account, register an email address, or sign up to use the core application.
• No Tracking: We do not track your dictation sessions, speed, or text outputs.

2. Third-Party Service Options (Opt-In Only)

If you choose to use advanced tone rewriting features, you may optionally configure third-party API providers (such as OpenAI or Anthropic):

• Direct API Keys: You provide your own developer API keys. These keys are stored securely on your local system and are only used to make direct, encrypted requests from your machine to the provider.
• No Middleman: Quill does not act as a proxy. Your API keys and text parameters are never sent to or stored by Quill servers.

3. Waitlist Information Collection

When you explicitly sign up for our waitlist via our website:

• Information Collected: We collect your email address and name.
• Purpose: We use this information solely to notify you when Quill is ready for download.
• Third-Party Processors: This signup data is stored securely using Firebase. It is not shared, sold, or rented to any third parties.
